Transport Inquiry

Transport Inquiry, an online application, is one of the ways of recording the initial interest of a new customer in ČD Cargo railway transport services. Having registered and entered the required basic data concerning transport, a customer enters into contact with a ČD Cargo Sales Manager (SM). This person then provides a quotation concerning the requested transport to the customer.


This basic feature of the application is followed by other utilities, including protection and administration of a database containing inquiries, quotations and prices announced by the customer; the customer’s option of saving the prices into files in required formats; the option of batch forwarding and saving inquiries created in company software (SW) into the TRANSPORT INQUIRY application.

For already registered customers, the application allows upgrading from communication via e-mail and attachments (xls format) to the new data exchange platform containing offered and announced prices for transport.

Basic Features of the Application

  • Customer Registration.
  • Entering inquiries for transport with the following minimum data: transport period, name of goods, extent, type of transport, relation.
  • Saving inquiries into the application database.
  • The inquiry is assigned to an individual ČD Cargo SM via internal mechanisms. The customer is sent information about this to the e-mail address he/she specified in the registration process.
  • Displaying an overview of customer’s inquiries.
  • Option of correcting or cancelling inquiries (unless an inquiry is taken by SM).
  • Sending information on a prepared quotation to the customer’s e-mail address (at the moment of saving the quotation into the customer’s database by SM).
  • Displaying an overview of quotations to customer’s inquiries.
  • Working with the database of customer’s inquiries and quotations. Saving to files in formats which allow for working with the data using the company SW (xls, xml, txt, dbf).
  • Option of batch sending and saving of inquiries created in the company SW.

Cooperating Applications

ISOČ (Business Information System)
Customer inquiries are saved into the system of local installations of sales managers. Accordingly, quotations concerning the inquiries are created and exported back into customer databases in the TRANSPORT INQUIRY application.

ISOČ-Centrál
A central application and database of prices offered and announced. It is an application linking customer and sales manager data and activities according to defined rights.

IS OPT
When processing any consignment note for subsequent invoicing of freight charges, the IS OPT allows for automatic recalculation of the carriage prices and checks of their validity, according to the announced prices saved in the ISOČ-Centrál application.
