The Cargo Transport Timetable (SPONA) application enables searches for a connection in cargo transport with regard to the type of goods to be transported. The connection is searched according to train formation principles, i.e. from the departure station to the first formation yard, from the first formation yard to the last formation yard, and from the last formation yard to the station of destination.
At each station, where a wagon (shipment) is transferred from one train to another, the stay of the wagon for a minimum necessary period is taken into account (such period is defined for each train formation station), and then the time of departure to the next station within the train formation route is minimized.
When searching for a connection, the following limitations shall apply:
The maximum time of departure of the earliest train from a start station and/or time of the transfer of a wagon from one train to another in a readjustment station is 7 days. If no train leaves a station within the train formation route within the next 7 days, no connection will be found.
Using the trains according to connection needs: if there are no regular trains but a train according to connection needs goes within a train formation route section within the next 7 days, such a train going according to connection needs is used. If in the entire connection at least a single section is found that is covered by a train going according to connection needs, the entire connection is marked as ‘according to connection needs’.
