» Intermodal Transportation
Intermodal (combined) transportation means transportation of goods in a single means of transport and/or road vehicle. The major part of the route is performed by railroad, domestic waterway or by sea without handling goods, where the initial part (collection) and the final part (distribution) occurs mainly by road.
Types of Traffic Systems
There are two basic types of transport systems in combined transport; i.e. accompanied and non-accompanied combined transport.
Accompanied combined transport means the transport of road vehicles (including the crew) by sets consisting of special low-floor railway wagons (‚Ro-La‘ transport).
Non-accompanied combined transport means transport performed by large containers, swap bodies and articulated trailers.
