COTIF 99

COTIF Convention

As of 01-07-2006, a reviewed Convention Concerning International Carriage by Rail (COTIF) as amended by the Amending Protocol, which was signed at a General Assembly of the Intergovernmental Organisation for International Carriage by Rail (OTIF) in Vilnius, April 1999 (the so-called COTIF 99), became effective.

We already informed you about the structure of the new COTIF 99, as well as major updates, in our ČD Cargo Magazine last year. To provide an easy and trouble-free transition to using the new international transport law, let us inform you about the points where you can find more details:

The Convention Concerning International Carriage by Rail COTIF 99, including all 7 appendices (A-G ), is under the auspices of the Czech MoT, and can be found at their website http://www.mdcr.cz/.

It will be published in Treaty Collection No. 49/2006, Part 26.

ČD, a.s. will publish the following CIT (International Railway Transport Committee) products:

CIM Consignment Note Manual (GLV-CIM)
CUV Wagon Note Manual (GLV-CUV)
CIM/SMGS Traffic Manual (Partially replacing RSM).

The COTIF Convention, JPP CIM and the manuals (CIT products) will be available at the following address:

In the ‚Přepravní a tarifní věstník‘ – Transport and Tariff Bulletin (PTV – No. 21-22, Section N), a detailed method of making entries in a CIM Consignment Note, including the NL CIM Form template, will be published.
