On November 21, 2017, another discussion forum was held in Žofín, the main topic of which was the shape of the railway in the 21st century. While the contributions of most of the performers, including the first deputy minister of transport Tomáš Čoček, were focused on passenger transport and high-speed infrastructure projects, the chairman of the ČD Cargo board, Mr. Ivan Bednárik, pointed out that rail freight transport has its place in the 21st century, when its role in the transport market is gradually changing.

„n the past, the railways had to carry a huge amount of goods, today customers demand speed, reliability and quality. We must be able to guarantee transport time, offer our customers products competing with asphalt and use of modern technology“, Ivan Bednárik said in his speech.

Interesting was also the queries of the participants, which were aimed at almost all presenting experts. It is worth mentioning the question of the high financial cost of implementing European provisions, such as ETCS, which was answered by CER Executive Director, Mr. Libor Lochman. Unfortunately, his answer was not very specific.
