The viral epidemic currently affecting almost the whole world is also significantly complicating the transport of goods. However, even in this difficult situation, ČD Cargo is ready to carry out the transport of any goods, even from the severely affected northern Italy.

On 30 March 2020, two wagons loaded with wire coils were brought to the tracks of the Ostrava Central Station´s commercial area. They were sent from a smelting plant in Osoppo, Italy. Another three wagons are on their way to the Czech Republic.

In the commercial area, the wire coils were transferred to trucks and delivered to the final recipient in Třinec. The international rail transport was smooth without any major delays and other problems that the current situation brings. Another advantage of the railway is that it is possible to transport goods that would have to be loaded on two trucks within one wagon.
