We are the largest Czech rail freight carrier. We offer transportation of a wide range of goods, from raw materials to high value-added products, container transport, special shipments, railcar rental, siding and other logistics services.
Throughout the Czech Republic and all over Europe
With our annual freight volume transported, we are one of the five biggest rail carriers among the EU member states. We provide services to our customers throughout the Czech Republic and, via our branches and subsidiaries, all over Europe. To ensure the operation of freight trains, ČD Cargo has modern interoperable locomotives and an extensive fleet of freight wagons at its disposal.
About us
The joint-stock company ČD Cargo is a proud successor of the almost two hundred-year-tradition of rail freight transport in the territory of Bohemia, Moravia, and Silesia. It belongs to the largest rail freight carriers in Europe. It was established as a subsidiary of the joint-stock company České dráhy on December 1, 2007, by the contribution of the freight part of the joint-stock company ČD, a.s.
ČD Cargo offers transport of a wide range of goods, from raw materials to high value-added products, container transport, exceptional consignments, wagon rental, siding and other additional services. It provides domestic and international transport of block trains, groups of wagons and single wagon loads.
ČD Cargo’s strategic goal is to maintain its leading position in the rail freight transport market in the Czech Republic and the Central European region, while at the same time being an efficient, customer-oriented company. Other goals include employee development, improving their professional and language skills, and developing cooperation with technically oriented vocational schools and colleges with the aim of attracting skilled young employees. ČD Cargo pays great attention to meeting safety standards and improving the working and safety conditions of its employees.
Governing bodies and company management
The sole shareholder of ČD Cargo, a.s., is České dráhy, a.s., which acts as the general assembly, the highest body of the company. The statutory body of the company is formed by a three-member Board of Directors, and the supervisory body is a six-member Supervisory Board. Pursuant to Act No. 93/2009 Coll., on Auditors, a three-member mandatory body of the company – the Audit Committee – was established on October 1, 2009.

Units of organizational structure
The unit at the central level is represented by the General Directorate, while the executive level is represented by the Regional Operations Directorates with subordinate operational workplaces and the Rolling Stock Repair Centers with subordinate rail vehicle repair shops. Other units in the organizational structure include the Traffic Receipts Clearing in Olomouc and the Operational Control Center in Česká Třebová.
