General Conditions of ČD Cargo
The General Terms and Conditions of ČD Cargo define the framework of the “customer – ČD Cargo” relationship in the provision of ČD Cargo services. Upon conclusion of a contract between the customer and ČD Cargo, these terms and conditions become part of the contract.
Contractual Carriage Conditions of ČD Cargo
The ČD Cargo Contractual Carriage Conditions (SPP) govern the rights, obligations and responsibilities of the carrier ČD Cargo and its customers in the transport of wagon loads and the provision of other services by our company within the Czech Republic. By concluding a contract of carriage or other contract for activities under these SPP, these conditions become part of the contract.
Tarif ČD Cargo
The carrier ČD Cargo announces the ČD Cargo Tariff (TVZ), which contains both the text with the tariff conditions and tables with price details (carriage charges and ancillary charges). The tariff is designed as a wagon tariff, and carriage charges are calculated per wagon regardless of the weight of the loaded goods. The tariff applies to the transport of consignments within the Czech Republic for which ČD Cargo is the carrier, unless another price agreement has been concluded. The calculation of carriage charges for consignments carried out by foreign branches or subsidiaries of ČD Cargo is based exclusively on contractual agreements.
COTIF 99
“COTIF 99” (Convention concerning International Carriage by Rail) is an international treaty governing the conditions for international rail transport of both goods and passengers. It establishes uniform rules on carrier liability, transport contracts, documentation, and the settlement of disputes between member states.
CIM/SMGS
“CIM/SMGS” is a unified consignment note and legal framework for international rail transport between countries applying the CIM Convention (Western Europe) and the SMGS Agreement (Eastern Europe and Asia). It enables simpler, smoother, and legally harmonized transport of goods across different legal systems.
Clearance of block trains/wagon groups using a single transport document
The transport of block trains or groups of wagons with a single transport document brings a number of advantages to the customer. A group of wagons checked-in with a single transport document is assigned to the same train and is not divided into different trains, for example, to supplement the load to the standard weight of the train when departing from a border crossing station or marshalling yard. All tasks related to the handling of transport documents, including those performed by administrative authorities (police, customs authorities, phytosanitary and veterinary inspections, etc.), are simpler and faster.
General Terms and Conditions for Germany, Austria, and PPS 83 and 79
These general terms and conditions apply when our company ČD Cargo (UIC 2154) is the carrier on the DB Netz and ÖBB-Infrastruktur AG networks.
Loading & Loading directives
The UIC Loading Guidelines contain rules for the safe and economical loading and securing of goods in railway wagons. They ensure smooth and trouble-free operation in international and domestic transport and are binding under the COTIF convention for transport within the Czech Republic. More information can be found in the Loading application
Order of a railway freight wagon
The first step in arranging the transport of a wagonload consignment is to order a railway freight wagon, which is done using a “loading request” – a form for ordering wagons provided by the carrier for future loading. It serves to secure the necessary transport capacity according to the customer’s requirements.
Transport restriction and suspension (ZAN)
Restrictions or suspensions of transport or loading of wagon consignments (ZAN) are announced by ČD Cargo either at the customer’s request or on the basis of other restrictions, such as measures issued by administrative authorities, impassable tracks due to natural disasters, etc.
