Company restructuring – next phase

On Monday, July 21, 2025, a meeting of the top management of ČD Cargo with representatives of the trade union central offices took place. The main topic was the continuation of the company restructuring. The transport volumes of all carriers on the network of Správa železnic declined by another 5.3% in the first half of this year.

Rail Business Days Ostrava 2025

From June 10 to 12, 2025, Ostrava’s exhibition ground Trojhalí hosted another venue of the international fair Rail Business Days (RBD). This event continues the tradition of similar railway gatherings which were held for many years under the name Czech Raildays in the Ostrava railway commercial yard.

ČD Cargo in 2024

Year 2024 was extremely challenging for the whole European rail freight market. Acute decline of commodity volumes traditionally transported by railway continued and many of large carriers across the EU report massive losses, staff reduction and issues with liquidity. Despite further grow in transport performance of ČD Cargo branches and subsidiaries abroad, the total volume of transport decreased to 56.7 million of tonnes in 2024.

Update on HARMONISED COMMODITY CODE (NHM)

On 1 May 2025, the updated Harmonised Commodity Code (NHM will come into force.

The NHM code is now fully aligned with the Harmonised System (HS) of the World Customs Organisation, with one exception: Chapter 99 – Railway-Specific Headings.

Divestment of rolling stock

Regarding the ongoing renewal of its rolling stock and in connection with the reduction of excess capacity, ČD Cargo is launching the divestment of selected railway rolling stock – locomotives and freight wagons.

Terminal Nymburk – Ceremonial Start of Construction

Terminál Nymburk

After several years of careful preparations, construction of the new intermodal transport terminal in Nymburk was launched on Thursday, 16 January 2025. The construction will be carried out by companies Hochtief and Viamont. The joint venture, Terminal Nymburk, which is responsible for the construction, was established at the beginning of 2023 by ČD Cargo and Medlog CZ. A modern intermodal transshipment facility with excellent transport connections to both the main railway line and the city bypass will be built on a 7.5-hectare site.

Cooperation between ČD Cargo and FTE

ČD Cargo presents a new feature that will delight all students and recent graduates. Forum Train Europe (FTE) and ČD Cargo have joined their forces to create an exclusive joint internship. This programme is not just about “looking under the hood”. From day one, students will be gaining valuable experience and insight into the world of railway transport – both at operational and strategic levels.
