ČD Cargo focuses on its employees and building a fair, supportive and safe working environment.

Policy regarding own workforce

The policy sets out the company’s commitments in the areas of human rights, working
conditions, safety and employee development and is closely linked to ČD Cargo’s strategic
goal ” Being an Attractive Employer”.

Key aspects of the policy:

  • Respect for human rights and zero discrimination:

    • Prevention of any discrimination and harassment – applies without exception
      (race, gender, nationality, etc.). Support for diversity and an inclusive
      environment (based on the ČD Cargo Code of Ethics).

    • Equal treatment and equal pay at all levels (anchored in the company collective
      agreement).
    • ČD Cargo excludes forced labour, the employment of children and adheres to
      the legal conditions for juvenile labour.
    • We are actively involved in the return of employees after maternity and
      parental leave, offering flexible working hours and the possibility of
      involvement in the form of agreements on non-employment.
    • ČD Cargo complies with the Labour Code of the Czech Republic and other
      legal regulations.
  • Social dialogue and collective bargaining:
    • Communication between the employer and employees takes place primarily
      through eight trade unions representing employees, in accordance with the
      internal standard “Social Dialogue at ČD Cargo, a.s.” and the valid Corporate
      Collective Agreement.
    • Meetings between the company’s management and representatives of trade
      unions take place regularly.
    • The collective agreement provides employees with stable employment and
      guarantees them the certainty of timely payment of wages and other benefits,
      such as contributions to pension and life insurance, meals and longer vacation.
    • Employees are involved in the creation of internal standards and company
      measures.
  • Area of safety:
    • In ČD Cargo has been covered in 2 areas – occupational health and safety
      (OHS) and the safety of rail transport. Within these areas, ČD Cargo strives to
      maximize the safety of its employees and thus eliminate the number of work
      injuries or emergencies.
    • OHS
      • A certified OHS Management System (SM OHS) has been introduced,
        according to ISO 45001, which sets up a process of management,
        monitoring, evaluation and adoption of measures to minimize risks and
        prevent occupational injuries.
      • A policy for the prevention of occupational injuries was created (part of
        the policy of the integrated management system of ČD Cargo – IMS)
        with the aim of creating a safe, non-hazardous working environment for
        employees.
    • Rail transport safety
      • At the level of the Chairman of the Board, the Safety Policy of the
        company ČD Cargo, a.s. (SMS-CDC-EU-221) has been approved and
        updated with the aim of continuously improving rail transport safety.

  • Employee training and development:
    • ČD Cargo emphasizes the development of knowledge and skills of employees
      through mandatory and voluntary training, which contributes to maximum
      operational and occupational safety.
