Update on HARMONISED COMMODITY CODE (NHM)

On 1 May 2025, the updated Harmonised Commodity Code (NHM will come into force.

The NHM code is now fully aligned with the Harmonised System (HS) of the World Customs Organisation, with one exception: Chapter 99 – Railway-Specific Headings.

  • Headings 990300 a 991100 are deactivated.
  • Other headings under Chapter 99 will remain valid, but their use will be limited. Some headings will only be permitted within the same customs territory.
  • For transport outside the customs territory and under customs procedures, the corresponding HS code must be used. *)

*) Customs procedures:

  1. all transports covered by the NCTS procedure
  2. all transports covered by the export procedure
  3. all transports covered by the “T2 Swiss Corridor“
  4. all shipments entering the EU which are to be notified by an entry summary declaration
  5. all shipments leaving the EU which are to be notified by an exit summary declaration.

Detailed information on the possibility to use certain Chapter 99 codes (in xlsx format).

The changes in question were published by the UIC on 28 April 2025.

The NHM with incorporated changes is available on www.cdcargo.cz and www.uic.org.
