Projects

Currently, when the world is facing the solution of a significant question within the area of environmental policy, ČD Cargo is becoming an important player within the area of effective transport of various types of materials within the whole Europe.

Considering the aim to create effective transport within the whole European network it is necessary that ČD Cargo participates in the solution of various projects, which may introduce to the company extensive knowledge within the area of science, research, active employment politics, and other areas, not only within the railway transport.

Implementation of the projects in ČDC takes place in various areas, and the participation represents a great contribution to the company. ČD Cargo in cooperation with various institutes, from the Czech Republic and abroad, participates in various projects focusing on increasing the quality of provided services and at the same time due to the projects, ČD Cargo is becoming more competitive in the European market of railway transport.

Support of the projects

ČD Cargo, during the creation and implementation of individual projects, tries to receive a support from various external sources, in particular the funds financed from the EU, but not limited to. ČD Cargo in these projects operates as an independent applicant, when the project is resolved by the ČDC employees from the beginning, and also as a partner within the consortium comprising of the Czech and International partners.

Aims and activities of the project

The aim of the project was to improve the level of knowledge and skills of both the ČD Cargo, a.s., and partner organisation from Brno ALTWORX s.r.o. employees and secure the unity of their qualifications and competences with requirements for their work.

Number of people involved in the project (supported people): 225; of which 183 employees took part in courses for total of 40 hours minimum.

Project activities:

Technical and other skilled education, welding lessons including periodical examinations – total of 95 welders, rail vehicle repairmen, electrical mechanics, operating electricians and railway engineers with total of 40 hours minimum;
Technical and other skilled educational activities, non-destructive testing courses including examinations – total of 3 supervisors, diagnosticians and rail vehicle repairmen with total of 40 hours minimum;
Soft skills, managerial ability activities – total participation of 76 headquarter division directors, operational unit and rail wagon repair centres directors, heads of operational workplaces and rail wagon repairs centres, or other directors or senior staff, total of 40 hours;
Specialised IT activity – total of 9 IS administrators and experts in the ICT area with courses of total of 40 hours minimum. Mainly ALTWORX s.r.o. employees took part in this activity.

The project is in coordination with the strategic aim to develop the internal repairs system and to be a sought employer as well thanks to the education system support. The project also included directors and selected senior employees of the company.
